Firefighters Against Our Opponent PDF Print E-mail

November 1, 2008

Thanks to those of you that wrote in about the billboard recently put up in Lake Elsinore (central part of District 66) concerning our opponent. We've posted the image below.

While we had nothing to do with it (really, we didn't -- our campaign was informed after the decision had been made), we definitely share the sentiment with firefighters. Our opponent has done nothing to address the big issues of the day. Nothing on foreclosures, nothing on health care reform, nothing on reigning in our budget deficit, nothing on creating new jobs in the region, and nothing to engage with voters. This has been expensive for the region.

3 Days Out! PDF Print E-mail

November 1, 2008.

We're just a few days out and we're going full speed. It was great to wake up this morning and read two great letters to the editor in support of our campaign. We've listed them below. One highlights Grey's pledge to voters, and one highlights the support a local and prominent pediatrician has given Grey.

You can view both letters by clicking here:

Candidates and their empty promises
We voters hear so many empty and unrealistic promises from political candidates, assuring us so many great gifts and benefits that we skeptical voters know they cannot possibly fulfill in this collapsing economy. I just read a list of eight promises from one of our candidates, Grey Frandsen, unlike any other I have seen. They will not cost 1 cent of taxpayer money; they are all achievable and they will benefit the people of our district enormously. All that is required is candidate integrity.

"I, Grey Frandsen, pledge the following to the voters of Assembly District 66: 1. I will continue to reject partisanship and 'dirty politics.' As a Democrat, I will work with Republicans, Independents, and others, putting aside partisanship and bitter party politics to focus on solutions to our problems. 2. I will continue to remain open and accessible at all times. People know they can reach me ---- at a town hall, over e-mail, on the phone, or at any of our cost-free events. 3. I will not back down in my effort to defeat the Liberty Quarry proposal. Despite the money and the pressure being focused against our campaign because of my position, this issue is too important to shy away from. I've staked my campaign on defending our community ---- and that is what I intend to do. 4. I will continue my rejection of contributions from lobbyists or corporate entities." There are four more, equally heartening, promises. What a breath of fresh air.

Pediatrician supports Frandsen
I am a local pediatrician and I support Grey Frandsen for California Assembly. The health of our children is important. Mr. Frandsen is the only candidate who has opposed Liberty Quarry, the giant mine proposed for just south of our community. Over 60 local doctors are opposed to the quarry because they are concerned about health risks. Kevin Jeffries, his opponent, took money from the quarry company.

Frandsen also has the better plan to reduce our taxes and improve the housing crisis and health care. I have spoken with Grey Frandsen numerous times at anti-quarry events. He is an intelligent man with a kind heart. He is the best candidate to represent the interests of our children. He is a Democrat, but he is fiscally conservative and an independent thinker who will not succumb to special interests. Vote for him.

Lindsey's letter was published on October 26, 2008, and a number of you wrote to us about how much you enjoyed it.

Here's why you should cross party lines
My husband is a Democrat. In fact, he's running for Assembly District 66 ---- a predominantly Republican area. Given the attention his no-frills and independent approach has received, I have no doubt many of you Republicans are already considering voting for him. For those who have yet to digest the idea of voting for a Democrat, let me share some insight on Grey. He's easy for us Republicans to love.

Grey loves his family more than anything. He runs a successful small business and works hard to support his family. He is extremely proud of his country and is honored to have served the U.S. government after 9/11. He thinks we need to eliminate wasteful government. Grey is a Christian and his faith is a critical component of his life and his values. He cares for others, wants others to succeed and isn't in the business of telling people what to do in their own homes. He comes from a long line of hard-working individuals who value the concept of "earning it," and he puts the region's families at the top of his priority list.

Yes, I'm a lifelong Republican married to a Democrat. I'm voting for my husband not just because dinner conversation would be awkward if I didn't, but because he's a selfless, upstanding man who seeks to represent the district where we live and work and will raise our three young children. He brings compassion, humor and an unparalleled drive for public service that we haven't seen in this region for years. He's the best man for the job.

I support Grey, and I think you should, too.

No Typical Politician PDF Print E-mail

October 28, 2008

We've had two generous letters printed in the Press Enterprise in the last few days.

Here is the one published yesterday:

No typical politician

Recently, I heard Grey Frandsen, candidate for the 66 th Assembly District, speak.

He is not your typical politician. From Frandsen, I heard only clear-cut statements and values and not the usual political rhetoric. After listening to him, you know where he stands on issues.

Furthermore, he actually understands the concerns of residents, and he has ideas for how to address those concerns.

Frandsen would bring fresh ideas to the California Legislature, something that's badly needed in Sacramento. He would actually represent the people in his district -- oh, what a novel idea!

We appreciate the fantastic support we've seen from individuals throughout the District.

Frandsen Finishes 100 Town Hall Meetings

Record Number of Forums in Region

Temecula, CA - Grey Frandsen, Democratic Candidate for Assembly District 66, finished his 100th town hall meeting on Sunday, October 26, 2008, in Julian, California. This is in addition to approximately 20 fundraisers and other events held by the campaign.

On the completion, Frandsen said:

"This entire process was amazing. We met thousands of people, traveled literally thousands of miles, and shared our ideas and concerns with voters of every type, shape, size, and party. Most importantly, we listened. I can now say one thing: I have the pulse of this District."

Frandsen's town hall meetings were held in homes, parks, union halls, small businesses, schools, festivals, and a range of other places. You can view the list of town hall meetings online: http://www.frandsen2008.com.

Allison Dale, the Frandsen 2008 campaign manager, joked by saying "we all knew Grey was a little crazy making this pledge. But seriously, while it was tough to plan, coordinate, set up, etc., the results were fantastic. People really enjoyed meeting Grey in an old-fashioned forum to share ideas. We'd do it all over again if we could."

The campaign will be holding more town hall meetings with the Mobile Town Hall Unit before November 4th.
Supported by Democrats, Republicans, and Independents, Frandsen is running an issue-oriented campaign that is focused on the needs of working families throughout District 66
